What we collect, and what we refuse to collect

Naicee runs no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. This page describes exactly what the site and app store about you, who else ever sees it, and how to have all of it deleted.

The short version

We hold your phone number, because that is how you sign in and how a buyer reaches you. We hold whatever you type into a listing. We hold nothing else about you that you have not typed in yourself.

There is no analytics script on this site. No advertising network. No tracking pixel, no session recording, no data broker. We have never sold user data and the business does not depend on doing so.

What we store

  • Your phone number — required, because sign-in is by one-time code and because a listing without a contact number is useless.
  • Your name and city — optional, and shown on listings you post.
  • Listings you post: the text, the price, the location and any photos you upload.
  • Offers you make or receive, including the amount and any message attached.
  • A sign-in session: a hashed token, plus a short description of the browser or app that signed in, so you can tell your own sessions apart.
  • A push notification token, only if you use the Android app and allow notifications.

What we deliberately do not store

  • Your IP address. It is used in memory to rate-limit sign-in attempts and contact reveals, and is never written to the database.
  • Your email address. Accounts are phone-only, so we have nowhere to put one.
  • Your password. There are no passwords — sign-in is a one-time code.
  • Your location beyond the town or district you type in yourself.
  • Anything from your device: contacts, photo library, calendar, installed apps. The Android app asks only for the photos you actively pick for a listing.

Your phone number is public on a listing you post

This is the part worth understanding before you post. A listing exists so that a stranger can telephone you about a dog, so the contact number on a published listing is visible to visitors. If you do not want your number public, do not post a listing — you can still browse and make offers.

Offers work the other way around. While an offer is open, neither side sees the other's number. The numbers are revealed to both parties only once an offer is accepted, because at that point the two of you need to talk.

Who else sees your data

We use a small number of services to make the site work. None of them receive data for their own purposes.

  • The database is hosted with Neon, which stores it on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States.
  • One-time sign-in codes are delivered over WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) or, as a fallback, by SMS through MSG91. The provider receives your phone number in order to deliver the code.
  • Email to our own moderation desk is sent through Resend. This carries listing details, not your personal contact information beyond what is already on the listing.
  • That is the complete list. There is no advertising partner, no analytics provider and no data broker in it.

How long we keep things

  • Listings expire 60 days after they are posted, and expired listings stop being publicly visible.
  • One-time codes are deleted as soon as they are used, and expire after ten minutes regardless.
  • Sign-in sessions expire on their own, and signing out deletes the session immediately.
  • Everything else is kept until you delete your account, at which point it goes.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and everything attached to it from the Account page, in both the website and the Android app. No email, no form, no waiting for us to action it — the button does the deletion.

It removes your account, your listings, your offers, your notifications, your sessions and any push token. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a shadow copy.

If you would rather we did it, write to us and we will, but the button is faster.

Cookies

Two, both strictly necessary, neither used for tracking: one holds your sign-in session, and one remembers whether you chose English or Tamil. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Children

Naicee is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly hold data about children. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Your rights, and how to use them

You can see what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted. Most of it you can do yourself from the Account page. For anything else, or for a complaint about how we have handled your data, contact the grievance officer named below — required of us under India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and we will acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days.
